In response to the news that the fourth of the five Republican members of New Jersey’s Congressional delegation has announced his intention to vote against the American Health Care Act, Analilia Mejia, director of New Jersey Working Families Alliance, released the following statement:
“GOP members of New Jersey’s Congressional delegation have felt the force and fury of their constituents through massive ongoing grassroots mobilization and voter outreach. New Jersey Working Families Alliance and our partners have educated New Jersey voters about the American Health Care Act, which would strip 476,000 state residents of their healthcare, create undue strains on our emergency rooms and hospitals, and result in people paying more for less care. We are glad to hear that Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen is joining Congressmen Chris Smith, Frank LoBiondo, and Leonard Lance in standing against this naked attempt to siphon billions of dollars into the pockets of the richest, paid for by stealing health care from ordinary Americans. We call on Congressman Tom MacArthur to listen to his constituents and cast a no vote to kill this harmful legislation.”
New Jersey Working Families Alliance is an independent political organization that fights for progressive policies and elects progressive candidates.
