PATERSON, NJ - The boys and girls basketball teams from Morristown High School each lost its state tournament quarterfinal to Paterson Kennedy in a North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 playoff doubleheader on Wednesday night.
The Colonials, led by Jack Mongey led the way with 12 points for the Colonials, who also received seven points from Kevin Hoen in the 48-33 setback. Alphonso Gee and Jalani Morris scored a combined 34 points to pace Paterson Kennedy.
The Lady Colonials also had an unhappy ending, falling to Patterson Kennedy 53-50. Morristown took the lead in the third period only to be outscored in the fourth. Tajae Stevenson had 17 points for Patterson Kennedy.
Elizabeth Strambi and Abby Schubiger scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Morristown.
