Lisa Vitiello, of the highly loved and successful Morristown-based Simply Lisa's Gourmet Food and Catering has been running Portofino's Italian Restaurant for the last few years, continuing on the over 30-year-old family business's success and passion for fantastic Italian cuisine.
Lisa has been updating aspects of the store — like renovating the decor inside (like installing beautiful barn wood doors between rooms and hanging her original, framed Italian family photos and wedding portraits on the walls). Many locals have noticed that she also had the exterior refinished and painted — which they stop in to compliment.
Recently, as Lisa continued to refresh this classic Morristown eatery, she reached out to Michael Maguire, graphic designer, to redesign their menu and give Portofino's a fresh, new look. Maguire is an artist, graphic designer, and principal of Produced By Primates, a wedding/event planning company. Born and raised in Morristown, he went to Morristown High School, and currently lives and runs his business out of Morris Plains.
Together, they are excited to announce that the new menus are ready for the world!
Tomorrow, after a lot of work, the new menu is launching — just in time for Valentine's Day.
Along with the new menu design (in chic, wood menu holders), Portofino's now has a fresh, new logo — to be seen for the first time atop their new menus tomorrow, along with a few new fine edible announcements.
The new menu features everyone's favorite, classic Portofino's dishes, but it also includes some new dishes, like Pork Parmigiana and both Veal and Bronzini Francese. These dishes are expertly prepared dishes you absolutely won't find in most other Italian restaurants, and they will quickly become the new favorite of anyone that orders them.
In addition to Portofino's exciting new menu, tomorrow they are announcing their new Sunday special: “Nonna's Abbondanza: Grandma's Sunday Feast” — this weekly specials will be available only on Sundays, and will feature a classic, slow-simmered Sunday gravy, packed with Italian meat delicacies, just like Grandma used to make. All this, plus Portofino's famous Chicken Parmigiana, pasta, salad, and a fresh-stuffed cannoli. (See image above for a full list of what's included in this family-style feast.)
Additionally, Portofino's full menu is still available on Sundays, even with this amazing, new weekly special.
The Portofino's Restaurant family can't wait to see you soon! Buon Appetito!
