After completing one of the most successful seasons in School history, members of the Morristown-Beard School boys golf team were honored at the Somerset Patriots baseball game as part of “Pitch & Putt Night” on Tuesday, July 25th.

The Crimson golf team was recognized for its achievements and three MBS golfers – Will McCann ’18 of Madison, Matt Karrat ’19 of Chatham and Fran Randazzo ’18 of Summit – threw out ceremonial first pitches before the game. Members of the team also got a chance to meet Sparky Lyle, a former relief pitcher for the New York Yankees and the Manager Emeritus of the Somerset Patriots. It was a fun evening for all of the players and their families!

This spring, the Morristown-Beard School boys golf team (19-3) finished with a final No. 7 ranking in the NJ.com Top 10, a Morris County Tournament title, a Prep B crown, and a NJSIAA North Jersey, Non-Public B Championship for the first time in School history. This year’s MBS boys golf team was coached by Harry Carr, who was named Coach of the Year by NJ.com.

This summer, members of the team are continuing their success. Just before being honored at the Somerset Patriots game, Matt Karrat won the IJGT Summer Series at Neshanic Valley, and Will McCann placed second overall.  Pat Ryan ’18 of Maplewood recently played in the prestigious U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Flint Hills National Golf Club in Andover, Kansas after qualifying by finishing second at the Peddie Golf Club in Hightstown.
