RANDOLPH, NJ – Thirty-eight years have gone by since Morristown last won a county championship in girls basketball.
But the Colonials are now just one step away from celebrating like its 1979.
While the game was not exactly pretty, Morristown outlasted Chatham for the third time this season, taking a 37-22 decision in the semifinals of the Morris County Tournament at County College of Morris. Top-seeded Morristown will look to win its first MCT title in nearly four decades when it takes on second-seeded Jefferson at CCM next Friday night.
Elizabeth Strambi (13 points) and Kim Calloway (11 points) were the only Colonials to reach double-figures in this game, but the winners saw seven different players score en route to upping their season’s overall ledger to 19-2.
