MORRISTOWN, NJ.  This year, The Peck School's sixth, seventh, and eighth graders have again joined almost 1,000,000 other American middle and high school students to participate in Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest. In line with the theme of "Taking a Stand in History," Peck students have explored topics of their own choosing, researching primary and secondary sources and, in some cases, creating their own sources with surveys and interviews. The students have been working - some in groups, some independently - on these projects since the fall with the guidance of their history teachers.

Nineteen Peck students were selected by the school’s history department to enter their projects into the regional National History Day competition, the next phase of the national contest. The projects selected to proceed in the competition include a research paper, two exhibits, an individual performance, two websites, four group exhibits, two group documentaries, a group performance, and six group websites.

Last year, three Peck students were selected to represent the State of New Jersey at the National Contest. The finals are held every year in June at the University of Maryland, College Park when nearly 3,000 students and their parents and teachers come together for the weeklong event.
