MORRISTOWN, NJ – Hard work and leading by example are qualities that every coach wants in their players. Senior Captain Matt Granade has been displaying leadership qualities on and off the field.
"As captain of our baseball team, Matt is consistently first in any conditioning drill and is constantly hustling and leads by example” said Head Coach Ed Collins.
Matt also puts the team’s success first. He looks to “just get on base” or to “put down a bunt to move the runner over”.
As a result of his efforts, skill and determination, Matt Granade has been named TAP into Morristown’s Athlete of the Week.
The Morristown Senior has impressive stats. Currently, Matt has a .412 batting average and a .500 on base percentage, which was described as “impressive” by his coach. Matt has sixty four career at bats, with 21 runs scored, 22 hits and 8 RBI’s.
“Playing high school baseball has meant a lot to me”, reflected Granade.” I have looked forward to baseball season every year for the past 4 years and have had a great experience. I've met a lot of friends throughout my career and like to think of our team as a family. Playing for the Morristown high school baseball team has been the best time of my life.”
Next year Matt will be majoring in finance at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
