MORRISTOWN, NJ - On Sunday, May 31 two scout members were formally inducted as Eagle Scouts at a Court of Honor. Will Aguayo and Ryan Trackenberg, both seniors at Morristown High School gathered at the Morris Plains Community Center along with 120 family members, friends and town officials to celebrate this accomplishment.
Both Scouts are long-time members of Morristown-based Troop 112, chartered by the New Jersey National Guard’s 3/112 Field Artillery Unit, stationed at the Morristown Armory for the past 32 years.
Since 1924, fewer than 300 scouts have received the Honor Medal with Crossed Palms. This honor is the highest award bestowed upon someone who has demonstrated heroism in saving or attempting to save someone's life while putting his own life at risk. Aguayo received this medal for saving his brother from drowning.
In the Fall, Aguayo will be attending Lehigh University next year and Trackenberg will be attending The University of Delaware.
