Morristown, NJ – From Hearts to Home. Two Morristownians have given with their hearts to make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling in the community. Their philanthropic generosity and volunteerism in support of local nonprofit Homeless Solutions, Inc. (HSI) has made them true community leaders.
Andrew W. Lewis is a longtime Morristown resident and has been instrumental in creating and growing HSI’s Young Professionals Advisory Council while increasing community involvement. He works in Morristown as an Associate Principal for NK Architects. One year he used his skills to help build a model of the nonprofit’s newest affordable housing property out of cans (a CANstruction!) to help raise $10,000 at their Dream Builders’ Bash. Whether HSI needs assistance with an architectural rendering for
a housing project, or to organize a drive for essential everyday items, they know they can rely on him to help with requests both big and small.
The Hampshire Companies, well-known real estate firm and real estate investment fund manager based in Morristown for over 60 years, changed the life of one family iparticular. A single mom and her four children in HSI’s Transitional Housing Program. Hampshire became the first corporate FAN (Family Angel Network) sponsor, a new initiative by the nonprofit. In their role as a FAN they sponsor an apartment. But Hampshire has gone above and beyond its financial commitment. They hosted a party for the
daughter’s 1 st birthday, new shoes, new dress and all. Hampshire also brightened the family’s holiday with a wonderful meal and winter needed items. They have given this domestic violence survivor and her children the security of knowing that she has an extended support system beyond the nonprofit organization’s staff.
Because of their kindness and generosity, The Hampshire Companies and Andrew W. Lewis will be recognized at Homeless Solutions 19 th Annual Dream Builders’ Bash on March 1 st at The Westin Governor Morris in Morristown. Join them to celebrate these outstanding honorees and over 350 community- minded attendees for an evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing, and more. Both Hampshire and Andrew have demonstrated that supporting HSI and its programs can be much more than giving a simple donation. It is the heart that they give through their various efforts that has made a difference and has made the HSI program participants feel at home.
