CHICAGO, IL - United Airlines is teaming up with leading disaster relief organizations to provide aid to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. United will provide up to three million bonus miles to MileagePlus members who donate to the organizations. The company will also match the first $100,000 raised.
"The thoughts and hearts of the entire United family are fixed firmly on everyone impacted by Hurricane Harvey," said United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz. "We will be with them every step of the way and the only equal to the severity of this storm is the seriousness of purpose that we are all taking to ensure that these devastated communities recover fully and stronger than ever."
MileagePlus members who give to the American Red Cross, AmeriCares, Airlink or Operation USA through United's fundraising page can receive up to 1,000 bonus miles by entering their MileagePlus number at the time of their donation. Each of these organizations has teams deployed throughout the impacted areas to provide shelter, supplies, health care, and other much needed support to people in need.
United customers have raised more than $5.7million in the last 5 years for previous disaster relief campaigns.
United employs more than 11,000 people in the areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey, including at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, one of the company's largest hubs.
