MORRISTOWN, NJ - The winter solstice is occurring December 21. The winter solstice is not the whole day and fluctuates depending on where you live. For us, in the United States, the winter solstice will occur at 5:44 am EST, according to TimeandDate. The winter solstice marks the onset of winter with the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
There are a few ways to celebrate this year's winter solstice around town.
Grow it Green Morristown is inviting residents to the 7th Annual Winter Solstice Celebration from 6 - 7:30pm at the Early Street Community Garden. At this free event, attendees can let go of the past year's challenges, try some yoga movements and set goals for 2017.
