Florham Park, New Jersey – To celebrate the opening of a new location in Florham Park, Zounds Hearing Aids of Florham Park and Scotch Plains will give away CapTel captioned phones to men and women with hearing loss.

To receive your free phone, present a certification of your hearing test - indicating hearing loss - at Zounds in Scotch Plains or Florham Park. CapTel captioned telephones, which retail for $75, provide the text of a conversation on a screen as it is taking place.

“We are honored to provide our customers with these state of the art products,” said David Ratzker, owner of Zounds of Northern New Jersey. “This technology increases accessibility and improves communication for people who are hard of hearing.”

“These special phones can really make a difference in the life of someone with serious hearing loss,” Ratzker said. “We can help reopen a whole world. People who are hard of hearing can now have an additional tool stay in closer touch with friends and loved ones.”

Hearing loss affects 48 million people in the United States. One in three people over the age 65 is hard of hearing. The risk of depression, anxiety and social isolation increases for older people living with hearing loss.

Zounds Hearing Aids is the nation’s fastest growing hearing aid company. There are locations nationwide offering superior quality sound at an affordable price.

With more than 200 locations, Zounds began as a small, family owned business founded on a love for family and innovation. The company was started when founder Sam Thomasson was searching for better hearing aids for his hearing impaired daughter.

Influenced by his experience as a developer in the medical device and consumer electronics industry, Thomasson created technology that improved voice and sound quality in hearing aids. Zounds develops and exclusively licenses technology from Acoustic Technologies, Inc.

Zounds Hearing Aids offer features such as noise cancellation and WindShear, shock sound suppression, ClearSpeak, LifeStyle Analytics, and the GlobalEnergy charging system. These features amplify sound and give wearers a better sense of their acoustic surroundings, allowing them a stronger connection to all the important features of their lives

“In our business, we help people,” Ratzker said. “Detecting hearing loss and responding with a quality hearing aid can change a person’s life.”
