GFWC Woman’s Club- Denville/Rockaway Participates in Denville PRIDE Rid Litter Day

Close to 400 volunteers came out on a lovely, but windy Saturday to participate in Denville Township’s annual PRIDE, Rid Litter Day.  The timing was perfect, as it also coincides with the 48th anniversary of Earth Day! Earth Day is an annual event created to celebrate the planet's environment and raise public awareness about pollution. The day, marked on April 22, is observed worldwide with rallies, conferences, outdoor activities and service projects.

The Denville P.R.I.D.E. (Planned Recommendations for Improving Denville's Environment) Council's Rid-Litter day is an annual spring event that draws many dozens of volunteers from numerous community organizations to demonstrate pride in the community by cleaning up patches of litter and enhance the beauty of the town.

Members of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Denville- Rockaway joined volunteers representing organizations such as the Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Daisy Troops, Chamber of Commerce,  Rock Ridge Lake, Cedar Lake, Mayors Committee for People with Challenges, POWWW, and numerous individuals and families.

Geoffrey Millington, Denville PRIDE Rid Litter Chairman for over the last 15 years stated that “RID Litter Day has been a service project for at least the past 28 years and the event continually draws hundreds of volunteers from numerous community organizations and individuals.”

P.R.I.D.E is civic organization comprised of volunteer representatives of numerous civic, educational, social and neighborhood organizations within the Denville community. It was founded 51 years ago.
