Summit Symphony Concert

The Summit Symphony Orchestra continues its 2019-20 season on Sunday, March 15 at 2:00pm, at Summit High School on Kent Place Blvd. in Summit.  The concert will include music by Smetana, Castellanos and Schumann.  Admission to all Summit Symphony concerts is free but donations are gratefully accepted.

“Rolling Down the River” will feature concert music inspired by rivers.  One of Smetana’s most famous works, The Moldau, will certainly evoke thoughts of this famous Czech river.  El Rio de las Siete Estrellas (The River of the Seven Stars) is by the Venezuelan composer Evencio Castellanos. It is inspired by a poem about the Orinoco River and describes events of precolonial Venezuela.  Schumann’s Symphony # 3 in Eb Major is subtitled The Rhenish, and refers to the Rhine River.

The Summit Symphony has been providing free orchestral concerts for the Summit area since 1938. Their 2019-20 season includes 3 performances, the final one being on May 31. For more information about this concert and about the Summit Symphony Orchestra, please visit

I was disappointed in Gov. Murphy’s budget address today because I don’t believe increasing spending by another $2 billion and raising taxes and fees is going to help the hard-working, middle class families of this state; nor will his proposals create jobs or stem the flight of individuals and business from New Jersey.
