MORRISTOWN, NJ - The 17th Annual Morristown Community Family Day, sponsored by The Neighborhood House and Cornerstone Family Programs took place at Cauldwell Playground in Morristown on Saturday September 21. The purpose of Morristown Community Family Day is to have a day when members of the community can come together to enjoy great company, free food and entertainment.
"The Family Day is a way to support and revitalize the Neighborhood House", explained Linda Murphy executive Director of Operations and Outreach. She has been with the organizations for six years and looks forward to the family day each year.
The Morristown Neighborhood House and Cornerstone Family Programs are focused on strengthening communities by helping people build better lives. Both organizations have helped 10,000 residents in the Morristown community with programs for children, teens, and adults, said Murphy.
Many organizations set up tables with information about services or crafts for the attendees. Vendors included The St. Mark Lutheran Church, Macculloch Hall, Miles of Smiles, Avon Beauty, Community Health, Glitz and Glamour as well as Cornerstone Family Programs and Neighborhood House. In addition to the various stands, a train ride and blow up activities were set up. Attendees could enjoy popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, hot dogs, burgers, fries, as well as various salads.
The organizations continue add to their current programs. Murphy mentioned that two new programs will be offered in the near future. One program includes a satellite site for an adult day center and the other includes a basketball program for the public.
