MORRISTOWN, NJ - Morris Arts is inviting pumpkin carvers of all ages to bring their creations to the edge of the Vail Mansion's reflecting pond on Sunday October 27, at 5pm for the 10th Annual Pumpkin Illumination. While the sun fades to darkness, guests are invited to enjoy live jazz music, an art workshop and participate in the luminary parade and pumpkin illumination.
Each year, the Pumpkin Illumination has had a growing participation rate. During the first year it was held, 75 people came to light their carved pumpkin at dusk . Last year, according to organizers more than 1,000 people attended the illumination.
The evening schedule is as follows:
- 5:00 p.m. – Bring your carved pumpkin to the reflecting pond in front of the Vail Mansion in Morristown. Enjoy live jazz by The Lintet!
- The Lintet is an active and experienced New Jersey/New York based jazz ensemble led by Taiwanese-American trombonist, Peter Lin, whose playing was reviewed by Downbeat Magazine as “solid, fluid, and smooth.” The band’s repertoire includes popular jazz standards, soul classics, exciting originals, and even special renditions of Taiwanese folk songs.
- 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. – Workshop with artist Dan Fenelon followed by a luminary parade led by Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty. Dan Fenelon works with communities to create one of a kind original art projects. In keeping with the “Halloween” theme, there will be creatures and masks to decorate culminating in a parade before the pumpkins are illuminated.
- 6:15 p.m. – Pumpkin Illumination! Lighting of the pumpkins
