MORRISTOWN, NJ –The Presbyterian Church in Morristown (PCM) has been working with the Foundation for Peace to rebuild the Living Word Church and Community Center in Mathare North, Nairobi, Kenya. The project is nearing completion, but there is still a need for additional resources to help finish the job. Community members are invited to hear what is being done in Kenya, on September 15th at 6:30 p.m., at the Parish House of The Presbyterian Church in Morristown (65 South Street).
Johnstone, an officer of the Living Word Church who distributes Bibles in over 200 languages to Kenyan residents, will share an amazing story of how this large Nairobi slum area is being transformed with the love and commitment of local people working hand in hand with mission groups such as our own.
Several of the PCM church members have participated in the ongoing work in Mathare where free medical clinics, a bakery for self-development, and other community services are being provided not only to church members but to all residents of the community, free of charge.
This is an opportunity for the public to learn about what is going on in Kenya. There will be a slide show and light refreshments will be served. Free will donations to support the project should be made out to Foundation for Peace, with Mathare North project in the memo line.
