MORRISTOWN, NJ - The student led group, March for Our Lives Morristown will be holding a Town hall on Saturday April 7 at Thomas Jefferson School in Morristown. The event will take place from 4pm - 6pm
The Town Hall for Our Lives will feature Republican and Democratic candidates running for the open Congressional seat in District 11. According to a post on the March For Our Lives Morristown website, Patrick Allocco, Martin Hewitt, Tamara Harris, Mitchell Cobert, Mikie Sherill and Mark Washburne will be attending the event. The organization announced that Peter DeNeufville, Jay Webber and US Rep Rodney Frelinghuysen have all declined an invitation to attend.
The March for Our Lives Morristown walk drew over 10,000 people on Saturday March 24. During the Town Hall event, organizer Bella Bhimani a sophomore at West Morris Mendham High School said, "“One of my favorite Gandhi quotes is ‘be the change you wish to see in the world,’ and that is why I am up here today,” she said. “We are the ones affected (by gun violence) and we are the only ones who are willing to fix it.”
The students are continuing their fight against gun violence. During this Saturday's event, a panel of students will direct questions related to gun safety and keeping kids safe at school.
