MORRISTOWN, NJ -  For the 3rd consecutive year, Morristown High School is participating in the New York Jets “Upstander of the Week” Program.  In order to be chosen, students must encourage positive dialogue among their peers and work to ensure that all students are respected and valued as members of the MHS community,

This week, Maya Dummett was selected as the NY Jets Upstander of the Week. According to the School Climate Team, "Maya, a 2 time elected Class of 2022 President, demonstrates exceptional leadership skills and possesses the positive character traits that are emphasized at Morristown High School for being kind, hardworking, respectful, honest, and responsible.  Her former honors Physics teacher reported that she “worked diligently to do the best she could and took advantage of every opportunity to learn more” in a subject matter that “didn’t come easy to her.”  She described her as “considerate to her classmates, helpful and cheery” and stated that she “always kept a positive attitude and helped anyone in need.”

For each of 16 weeks during the 2018 NFL season, staff members will nominate students who demonstrate upstanding qualities of character similar to the Heart of the Colonial (i.e. kind, hard-working, responsible, honest, and respectful). One student will be selected each week and he/she will be honored with a special T-shirt, parent bumper sticker, 3 tickets to a home NY Jets game, and a parking pass.
