MORRISTOWN, NJ - As summer winds down, teachers at the Morris School District are gearing up for a new year.  Prior to the first day of school, the district has announced several programs and open houses for parents and students.

  • Morristown High School will host a 9th grade Parent Orientation Program on On Tuesday August 20, from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. First-year and transfer students will attend an orientation on Wednesday September 3 from 7:50am - 12:10pm
  • Frelinghuysen Middle School will host an open house for students and parents on Tuesday August 27 and Wednesday August 28 from 9am - 12noon (both days). 
  • Alexander Hamilton will host an open house on Tuesday September 3 from 9am - 11am
  • Alfred Vail will have a kindergarten Visitation Tour on Tuesday September 3 from 9am - 10am
  • Hillcrest will have a Back to School Playdate on Tuesday September 3 from 2pm - 4pm
  • Normandy Park School will have a School Wide Play Date on Wednesday September 4 from 1pm - 2:30pm

According to the 2019-20 academic calendar for the Morris School District, the first day for students will be Thursday September 5. Teachers in the district return September 3 and 4. The calendar has five emergency days built in and any unused days will be deducted from the end of school. As of now, the FMS graduation is Tuesday June 23 and the MHS graduation is Wednesday June 24.
