MORRISTOWN, NJ - Several local Morristown businesses joined forces in order to promote good health this summer.
Working together, the Summit Medical Group Foundation, Grow It Green Morristown, Trukmann’s Reprographics and Fiore purchased, designed and filled a truck with more than 83 pounds of fresh farm greens. Fiore coordinated the efforts and created the graphic design on the truck, and Trukmann’s created the truck wrap. The truck itself was purchased from a $5,000 donation from Summit Medical Group Foundation as well as by individuals in the community through a crowd rise campaign.
The vehicle was used recently to deliver fresh food, which included a mix of fresh lettuce, spinach and arugula. The food was delivered from Grow it Green Morristown's Urban Farm to the Interfaith Food Pantry and Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center.
"The program started with the vision of our founders, in 2009, to bring people closer to where their food comes from and making sure everyone in Morristown has access to fresh local food", said Shaun Ananko “Farmer Shaun” Director of Agriculture and Education Grow it Green Morristown. "We make weekly deliveries to the Interfaith Food Pantry, the Community Soup Kitchen, Table of Hope, and the Morristown High School cafeteria throughout the growing season."
