MORRISTOWN, NJ - The 7 th Annual Seeing Eye Doggy Dash was held at Ligerwood Park on Saturday, September 7 th . Beginning and ending at the park, this 5K looped around the surrounding area. People of all ages came out to run and support The Seeing Eye.
In the men’s category, Brad Golson (of Washington DC), Peter Deane (of Basking Ridge, NJ), and Jared Fronk (of Washington DC) won first, second and third place with winning times of 19:04, 21:01, and 21:54 respectively. With winning times of 18:57, 21:09, and 22:21, Morristown residents Elena Rozhko, Erin Holzbaur, and Kelly Stratzel were the first, second, and third place winners for the women’s category.
Opening remarks were made by Allison on behalf of Mayor Tim Dougherty. She praised the work of The Seeing Eye “we are so blessed to have The Seeing Eye part of the fabric of Morristown”. Allison acknowledged the work of all of those involved with The Seeing Eye including the puppy raisers, instructors, puppy raising families, business, and schools and thanked everyone for coming.The Seeing Eye Doggy Dash is held every September to commemorate Blindness Awareness month. The 5K gives community members the opportunity to meet seeing eye puppies and learn how they are provided to those in need. This year marks the 90 th Anniversary of The Seeing Eye.
