MADISON, NJ - These are tough times for sure. But for the those that live on tips, it is really tough. Servers, bussers, bartenders and food runners have seen loss of tips, loss of hours and are struggling. Seb Jones works at both the Bottle Hill Tavern in Madison and The Horseshoe Tavern in Morristown and he is raising money for coworkers at both establishments.
"While many of us are able to work from home and still earn an income, those working in the service industry are unable to do so", wrote organizer Seb Jones, of Madison. "We would love to show up to work and provide the essential service that we have provided everyday, but are unable to do so. All we ask is to give what you can, no amount is too small".
Organizers have set a goal of $10,000 with $1,000 raised as of today. While some have already helped, others have asked questions as to how the money will be distributed and who will get the money raised.
The Bottle Hill Tavern is offering take out service, so those uncomfortable with donating to a Gofundme, can place and order and tip staff that way. The tavern thanked their patrons on Facebook.
"Thank you for the overwhelming generosity shown to our staff with gratuities on our take out orders tonight", the post read. "We go backed up on phones a bit and apologize if we missed a few calls but the outpouring of support was greatly appreciated".
