MORRISTOWN, NEW JERSEY – The Rotary Club of Morristown recently awarded a grant of $2,775 to the Museum of Imagination + Innovation (MOMI), to support its Museum on Wheels program. MOMI is a nonprofit organization established in 2018 that is dedicated to promoting the power of play and building a children’s museum in Morris County or Somerset County.
The grant will be used to purchase supplies for its Museum on Wheels program. The Museum on Wheels program is a mobile program that provides educational play experiences for the whole family at community events and festivals. MOMI currently provides inclusive and equitable opportunities for open-ended play in local communities through hands- on activities at community events
Sara Sorenson, President and Founder, of Basking Ridge, NJ thanked the Morristown Rotary Club and said, “We appreciate the grant. The funds will provide much needed supplies to create unforgettable experiences for children and families and promote MOMI’s mission to build a museum that sparks curiosity and wonder, and ignites a lifelong love of learning.”
In 2019, MOMI brought its Museum on Wheels program to two community festivals to the Morristown area, The Original Music Fest and Grow It Green’s Alfresco on the Farm. The program included their signature Play with Ice activity that uses watercolors and salt to paint a 300 lb. block of ice.
“Some families have never seen such a big block of ice and even adults wanted to get on fun", said Sorenson.
