MORRISTOWN, NJ - Residents who visit Loantaka Brook Park in Morris Township will soon see some much needed improvements. According to governement officials, work on the new playground and upgraded bathrooms are planned to begin this week.

The Commission has approved a new playground, as well as replacing the restroom on the park's South Street entrance in Morris Township.

The new playground will be located in the same area as the previous playground. The playground will feature slides, climbers, fire poles, bridges and stationary cyclers. The playground will also be partially enclosed with fencing and include engineered wood fiber safety surfaces, said officials. There will be several benches for caregivers and adults to sit on within the enclosure.

The current bathroom facility will be demolished and will be replaced with a new pre-fabricated structure, said officials. The new facility will include three individual all-gender bathrooms, two of which are handicapped accessible. These new restrooms will be heated for year-round use. While the work is ongoing, port-a-johns will be available in this location.

The cost of the project is $303,000 for the installation of the playground equipment, pavers and concrete pad for the restroom building. The pre-fab restroom structure, including installation will cost $188,000.
