MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center has announced the newest venue for the Mansion in May 2020. The venue will be....... Tyvan Hill.
Tyvan Hill, located in New Vernon is a 10,000 square, u-shaped brick and stone mansion designed by the prominent New York architectural firm of Peabondy, Wilson & Brown for John Wesley Castles Jr. and his wife, Dorothea Bradford Smith.
The home was built between 1928 and 1929 and is typical of the large country residences which features beautiful details, such as a curved staircase, paneling and elegant moldings, as well as an outdoor pool and pool house. In 1931, the Architectural League of New York awarded its silver medal to Peabody, Wilson & Brown for the firm's designs of a group of country residences, prominently including Tyvan Hill.
"Tyvan Hill will once again be brought to life through the design inspirations of some of the metropolitan area’s leading interior designers and will feature approximately 40 design spaces, as well as multiple beautifully designed landscape areas", said the associaton.
Mansion in May is a fundraising effor by the Womens' Association for Morristown Medical Center. Every year, from May 1 through May 21, visitors have been able to tour amazing homes in the Morris County area.
Past homes have included The Abby which raised $1.5 million for the Center for Nursing Innovation and Research at Morristown Medical Center.
