MORRISTOWN, NJ - Students who have qualified for free and reduced lunched will still get lunch during virtual learning days, announced the Morris School District. Schools have been off since Monday and virtual learning is set to begin for all students in the Morris School District on Wednedsay March 18.
School cafeterias will not be open and there will be no access to buildings but students can pick up lunches at two locations.
Here is the information provided by the Morris School District regarding lunch pickup:
Bagged meals will be available for pickup beginning Wednesday, March 18. This service will continue for the duration of the virtual learning period, Monday through Friday, according to the school calendar. Please refer to the Coronavirus Update Center on the Morris School District website for any updates to school closure information.
Students in grades PreK-5: From 11 am to 12 pm
Students in g rades 6-12: From 12 pm to 1 pm.
For families with students in both groups, you may pick up your meal at either of these designated times.
At each location, there will be school staff and visual markers in the parking lot to direct you to the pickup area. The locations are:
#1: Morristown High School, 50 Early Street. Please use the rear entry (staff parking lot) along Atno Avenue.
#2: Alfred Vail School, 125 Speedwell Avenue. Please use the main entry on Speedwell and continue straight.
Please drive or walk up to the designated area. Inform the food service worker of the number of students you are picking up a lunch for, and you will be handed a complete, bagged meal for each student. Students who qualify for reduced lunch will not be charged for their meals during the period of virtual learning.
There will be one option available daily, either a cold meal or hot meal, which will include a fruit, vegetable, and milk. Juice will be available for children with a milk allergy, upon request. If you have any dietary restrictions, please notify the food service worker at pickup. Any meal not consumed within one (1) hour of pick up should be refrigerated.
