MORRISTOWN, NJ - Santos Javier Archaga-Mendoza has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison in connection with a 2017 fatal motor vehicle crash, announced Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp.

Archaga-Mendoza of Dover plead guilty to two counts of second degree reckless vehicular homicide and one count of fourth degree assault by auto as well as driving under the influence, they said in a press release. 

According to authorities, a single vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Route 15 and Route 46 on September 24, 2017. Archaga-Mendoza, the driver of the vehicle was speeding and intoxicated at the time of the crash. According to police, there were four additional passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Two passengers died as a result of the crash and a third sustained serious injuries, they said.
