MORRISTOWN, NJ - A twenty-six-year old Corrections Officer from New York has been arrested on charges of luring, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and promoting prostitution, announced Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Acting Chief of Investigations Christoph Kimker, and Mount Olive Police Chief Stephen Beecher.
According to authorities, Michael Rivera of Glen Spey, New York, is alleged to have contacted a 16-year-old female from Mt. Olive via the internet. He offered her money in exchange for sexual acts around July 4, 2018, they stated. The two met on July 6 in Mt. olive and, it is alleged that Spey provided money and engaged in sexual acts with the victim. When the victim stated she didn't want to continue, Spey forcibly pentrated the victim, then took the money back and left the residence, said officials.
Members of the Mt. Olive Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment investigated and were able to identify Spey. He was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance, said police.
A criminal complaint is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
