MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Morristown High School boys basketball team were in action this weekend.
On Friday, the Colonials suffered a 49-32 loss at Pope John. Pope John led 16-5 after one quarter. Morristown used a 15-4 third quarter to cut the
deficit to three going into the fourth. Nurell Miranda led Pope John with 16 points. Mike Atta put in 11 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, had four assists and made three blocks for the Lions. Nate Pluviose added 11 points.
But on Saturday, Morristown picked up a 46-38 overtime victory over Newton on Saturday afternoon, improving to 3-5 on the season.
Morristown outscored Newton 8-0 in the extra period. The Colonials fought back from a 14-6 deficit after one quarter of play.
Ray Mundrick scored a game-high 15 points for the Colonials. D’Shon Scott put in a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 14 for Morristown.
Morristown hosts Mendham Tuesday night at 7.
