MORRISTOWN, NJ- The Morristown Colonials moved over the .500-mark Thursday, with a convincing 8-4 victory over Roxbury at Mennen Arena. Connor Critchley led the charge scoring 4 goals, matching his season total, while Ryan Daniolowicz added a hattrick in the Colonials outburst.
“Connor and Ryan have been doing this for quite a while,” said head coach Robert Jones. “These two are seniors, and we rely on them to lead us, and we want their final season to be special.”
The Gaels took an early 1-0 lead a few moments into the 1 st period when Joe Carey got the scoring started. Critchley would level the score three minutes later, before Daniolowicz put the Colonials up 2-1 at the end of the period.
Morristown used a 4-goal 2 nd period to give themselves some cushion, heading into the locker room with a 6-3 advantage. The Colonials nearly saw a 4-1 lead slip away, before Critchley scored his 2 nd and 3 rd goals of the game. Dylan Peck saved 18 of the 22 shots he faced, earning the win.
The Colonials now sit at 6-5-2 on the season, as Robert Jones’ bunch have come a long way from 2-16-4 just one year ago.
“We wanted to stay in the Mennen Division despite a disappointing season a year ago,” said coach Jones. “These guys have come a long way and really learned a lot last season, and it shows game in and game out.”
Next up is Chatham on Saturday.
