MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Morristown High School boys and girls fencing team were victorious over Somerville High School.
The girls won 16-11 and were lead by the Epee squad of senior Matt Lebel, junior Nicole Ezell, and sophmore Alexis Feeney each going 2-0 in the first two rounds. The girls epee squad was 8-1 on the night.
The boys was a thiller, coming down to the final bout of the night featuring senior team captain Brendan Tierney. Tierney won the bout 5-3 to secure the 14-13 team victory for the Colonials. Also contibuting key victories for the Colonials in the final round were seniors Logan Lenahan (sabre), Andrew Otterson (foil), Dylan Sommer (foil), and Christopher Elliott (epee).
"It was great seeing our guys come from behind and secure some solid bouts in the final round of the match," said Morristown Head Coach Chris Awad. "Our guys never gave up and fought all night long, this was an exciting win they worked hard for and should be proud of."
The Colonials will travel to face Voorhees on Wednesday.
