MORRISTOWN, NJ- In a back and forth game, Morris Knolls used a strong 3 rd quarter to knock off the Colonials on Senior Day, 31-21. The loss, Morristown’s 2 nd straight, brings them to 2-3 on the year.
“We are just looking to see more consistency,” said head coach John Power. “They adjusted their option runs in the 2 nd half, and we weren’t able to react.”
Jason Jones was a highlight-reel every time he touched the ball, hauling in 4 catches for 78 yards and 2 TD’s. Throw in a 60-yard punt return in the 2 nd quarter, to give the Colonials a 13-10 halftime lead. Patrick Sinegra broke the backs of the Colonials in the 3 rd quarter. Touchdown runs of 60 and 29 yards put Knolls up 24-13. Sinegra also opened the scoring with an 80-yard pick six.
Jackson Willette finished 13/21 with 2 TD’s, but 4 interceptions.
The Colonial defense gave the offense a chance with 4 minutes remaining down by 3, but Willette was sacked on 3 rd down, forcing a punt.
“I’m proud of the way we fought all the way to the end,” said Power. “We have some improvements to make for next week.”
Sean Beller converted on 1 st and goal on the next Morris Knolls drive, to make it a 2-score game with a minute left.
Morristown will look to regroup against West Morris at Morristown High School next Saturday.
