ROCKAWAY, NJ- The Morristown Colonials gave top seed and unbeaten Montville all they could handle, but the Mustangs were just too much in the 2 nd half in a 47-34 victory.

The Colonials were outscored 31- 15 in the 2 nd half and fell to 13-7 on the season. Montville moves to 19-0 and the MCT semifinal.

Morristown was the aggressor right from the opening tip, starting on the defensive end. The Colonials held Montville to one field goal in a 5-point first quarter, in which Morristown built a 10-5 lead.

The Colonials had the lead the entire first half and broke the only tie in the final seconds after a Tara O’Neill 3-pointer to end the half.

O’Neill led Morristown with 13 points.

“I thought our first half was great,” said head coach Jim Pisciotto. “We wanted to make it a defensive battle, and our girls came out with great intensity in the first half.”

At the 3:39 mark of the 3 rd quarter, Morristown held a 24-18 lead before the Mustangs exploded on a 12-0 run.

“Once some of their 3’s started falling, they settled down and unfortunately shots weren’t going down for us at our end,” said Pisciotto.

Montville converted from the free throw line constantly and stifled Morristown on the defensive end, allowing only 8 points in the 4 th quarter. It won’t be long before the Colonials have another crack at the unbeatens, with another matchup on Wednesday at Montville.
