MORRISTOWN – The fourth-seeded Morristown High School girls tennis team defeated fifth-seeded Montclair, 4-1, in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday, October 8.

The Colonials improved to 8-5 on the season behind a sweep at the singles positions.

At first singles, Grace Starcher prevailed 6-0, 6-0 over Montclair’s Maddie Schanen. Morristown’s Maddie Siegel followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles over the
Mounties’ Lily McDonald.

The Colonials’ Eliana Milich cruised past Montclair’s Lola Kipila, 6-1, 6-0 at third
singles.

Montclair had a 6-4, 6-2 win at first doubles. At second doubles, Morristown’s Anne Merritt and Maddie Beavis defeated Quinnie Parisi and Abby Russman in a straight-set
match, 7-5, 6-4.

Morristown will meet top-seeded Livingston in the North 1, Group 4 semifinals.Livingston is a top team in the state with a 14-3 record. The Lancers defeated West
Orange in the sectional quarterfinals by a 4-1 score.
