MORRISTOWN, NJ- Tara O’Neill entered Tuesday’s action sitting at 998 career points in a Morristown Colonial uniform. She got her 1000 th point in the opening two minutes of the game, hitting the game’s opening 3-pointer in a 35-25 loss to Marist at Morristown High School. Morristown falls to 13-8.
“Tara has been a tremendous player for 4 years and we are going to miss her,” said coach Pisciotto. “As a freshman she was apart of a county and state title, and she’s become a great leader of this team.”
That was about all the positives for Morristown in this one, as Jim Pisciotto’s team missed numerous layups and committed multiple turnovers. Marist took a 13-6 lead after one quarter of play.
Morristown got back into the game in the 2 nd , playing great defense while turning that into offense, trailing by 2 points at the halftime break.
In the 2 nd half, the Colonials couldn’t buy a basket. Morristown scored 8 points in the 2 nd half, leaving Pisciotto beside himself on the sideline.There won’t be too much time for the Colonials to think about this one, as they have a rematch with Montville tomorrow night.
