MORRISTOWN – The Morristown High School field hockey, boys soccer, girls soccer and girls volleyball teams were in action on Thursday, Oct. 3.
Girls Soccer - Morristown (6-2-3) won its third in a row following a 3-2 victory over Sparta on Thursday. The Colonials put in two goals in the second half. Morgan O’Neill, Kathryn Duff and Maya Ruhalter all found the back of the net for Morristown.
Morristown goalie Mia Cecala made nine saves. Sparta had an 11-10 edge in shots on goal. Ninth-seeded Morristown plays at top-seeded Randolph in the county tournament quarterfinals on Sunday.
Boys Soccer - The Colonials (8-3-1) defeated Chatham, 4-1, on Thursday. Henry Acosta, Jordan Viotto, Andres Casanova and Camilo Loaiza put in goals for Morristown. Lazlo Stauss, David Farmer and Jose Ulloa had assists for the Colonials. Goalie Jonathan Nicholson made nine saves.
Morristown, as the fourth seed, hosts fifth-seeded Boonton in the county tournament quarterfinals on Sunday.
Field Hockey - Morristown (5-7) lost to Millburn, 2-1, on Thursday. The Colonials had a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal and Brittany Hoftijzer scored for Morristown, which led 1-0 at halftime. Millburn answered with two goals in the second half from Kate Regan and Molly Boehm. Up next for Morristown is a game against Mountain Lakes on Saturday.
Girls Volleyball - Morris Knolls defeated Morristown in three sets, 25-27, 25-18, 27-25 on Thursday.
