MORRISTOWN, NJ – A number of Morristown High School winter teams were in action on Thursday, Dec. 12.
Girls Swimming - Morristown defeated Parsippany, 101-50, improving to 2-0 on the season. Kelsey MacMillan took first in the 500 free in 5:19.96, Lauren Smith won in the 100 free (1:10.75), Ella Sparacino took first in the 100 fly (1:16.43), Sarah Gaynor placed first in the 50 free (30.220), Grace Feeney placed first in the 200 IM (2:47.49), Hallie Douenias (2:33.76) placed first in the 200 free and the group of Gaynor, Eva Oden, Anna Fleischman and Niamh Gorman led the way for the Colonials in the 200 MR (2:35.15).
Boys Swimming - Morristown improved to 1-2 by defeating Parsippany, 113-57, on Thursday. Jason Bergamasco placed first for the Colonials in the 200 free (2:31.76), Alexander Georgiev took first in the 200 IM (2:44.72), Dennis Delargy placed first in the 100 fly (1:06.15), Justin Pittara finished first in the 100 free (1:08.81), Owen Genrich took first in the 500 free (4:57.22), Ben Goroway placed first in the 100 back (1:15.90), Goroway, Genrich, Zachary Annuik and Kieran Hyland led the Colonials in the 200 MR (2:06.20), Genrich, Hyland, Delargy and Mike O’Kane led Morristown in the 200 FR (1:45.90) and Jason Bergamasco, Genrich, Delargy and Matthew Janeway led Morristown in the 400 FR in 4:19.39.
Boys Ice Hockey - Following a tie against Chatham and a loss to Morristown-Beard to open the season, the Colonials earned their first win of the season, taking down Vernon, 9-6, in a high-scoring affair between two teams in different divisions of the Morris County Secondary Schools Ice Hockey League. Morristown next meets Madison on Dec. 19 at 8:15 p.m. at Mennen Sports Arena.
