MORRISTOWN – The Morristown High School girls tennis team is gearing up for the 2019 season. The Colonials are coming off a 10-7 season and trip to the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 tournament semifinals before bowing out to Ridgewood, the eventual sectional champion.
Morristown, as the fifth seed, defeated Passaic and Kearny by 5-0 scores in previous rounds. Sophomore Grace Starcher returns to first singles. Starcher was 10-6 at first singles last year as a freshman.
Maddie Siegel, a senior, returns and will play at second singles. She played at third singles last season and won the Morris County Tournament at the flight. Siegel finished 13-1 at third singles a year ago. Sophomore Eliana Milich will play at third singles for Morristown this season. While doubles is still working on figuring out lineups, the first and doubles pairs could consist of juniors Alex Fisher, Madison Silver and Maddie Beavis and seniors Anne Merritt, Lauren Broseker, Jessica Kenneweg, Kirsten Brutans and Chelsea Carbajal.

The Colonials will open the season at Randolph on Sept. 4. Morristown then plays at Mendham and Livingston. The team then opens the home slate against Montville on Sept. 9. Morristown stays home for matches against Chatham on Sept. 11 and West Morris on Sept. 12. The Colonials then play at Wayne Valley on Sept. 14 before three straight home matches against Randolph, Mendham and Morris Knolls. The team concludes the regular season with five straight road matches at Montville, Chatham, West Morris, Mountain Lakes and Kinnelon.
