MORRISTOWN, NJ - A free talk will take place tonight, Thursday January 9, at Morristown's Washington Headquarters Museum Auditorium. The talk, titled The Road to Charleston: Nathanael Greene and the American Revolution will be given by John Buchanan. The event begins at 7pm.
John (Jack) Buchanan will discuss the final phase of the Revolutionary War in the the Carolinas and Georgia, concentrating on the difficulties faced by American commander, Major General Nathanael Greene. Severe logistics problem, political turmoil, and the nightmare of a savage civil war between Rebels and Tories that often sank to vigilante actions and "destroyed more property and shed more American blood than the whole British army;."
In Mr;. Buchanan's second book on the Southern Campaign, entitled "The Road to Charleston: Nathanael Greene and the American Revolution" he reviews the partisan fighting and major battles, as well as Greene's successful efforts to re-establish civil government in South Carolina and Georgia.
