Mt. Laurel Fire Department Celebrates Cadet's Graduation from County Fire Academy: The Burlington County Fire Services welcomed 18 new firefighters into their ranks during the Burlington County Fire Academy Graduation and Certificate Ceremony, held on January 31 at the Burlington County Institute of Technology's Westampton campus. One of the newly-minted firefighters was Dominic DiTore of the Mount Laurel Fire Department, who will now be assigned to a crew and will begin answering 9-1-1- calls for the service.

Lenape High School Honors February Students, Employee of the Month: Lenape High School is celebrating its Students and Employee of the Month for February 2023. Each month, one student from each of the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior classes is selected to receive the honor. February 2023's Students of the Month are Freshman Emma Scherz, Sophomore Quentin Davis, Junior Morgan Hann and Senior Sreya Kalapala. The February 2023 Employee of the Month is Stacey Domagala.

Mt. Laurel Police Seek Credit Card Thief Who Spent $6K at Apple Store: The Mount Laurel Police Department (MLPD) is asking for the public's help in identifying an individual suspected of credit card theft. According to the MLPD, the suspect (pictured) took credit cards and debit cards from an unlocked vehicle in the Lifetime Fitness parking lot, located at 3939 Church Road, on Friday, January 6. He then purchased over $6,000 worth of items from the Apple store in Marlton using the victim's cards.

Jackpot! Lottery Ticket Sold at Mount Laurel Deli Hits for $50K: One lucky lottery player picked up a sandwich, a soda and a winning lottery ticket at a Rancocas Woods deli this week. A New Jersey Powerball ticket sold at BJ's Deli located at 115 Creek Road in Mount Laurel was one of five tickets that matched four of the five white balls and the Power Ball in the Monday, January 30 drawing. These ticket holders each won a $50,000 second-tier prize.

Lenape District Support Services Assoc. Honored for Dedication to Deployed Troops: The Lenape District Support Services Association (LDSSA) has been honored for their dedication to a South Jersey organization that benefits United States military forces serving in the Middle East. The LDSSA was recognized for their work on a collection drive for Operation Yellow Ribbon in 2022. LDSSA members – district bus drivers, mechanics and custodial and maintenance staff — helped stuff school buses with supplies they collected for Operation Yellow Ribbon.

Mount Laurel Chief of Police, Township Officials React to Death of Tyre Nichols: The Mount Laurel Chief of Police, as well as the Township’s Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Council are reacting to the killing of Tyre Nichols, an African American man from Memphis, TN who was severely beaten by five officers from the Memphis Police Department after a traffic stop. Mr. Nichols was hospitalized and died three days later due to injuries suffered during the violent arrest. Body camera footage of the encounter was released to the public last week.
