BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - This past season, the award winning Gov. Livingston Highlander Marching Band performed a show titled ”Outside the Bachs," that earned top ranking after their rigorous fall schedule.

Prior to the Thanksgiving Day game, the band honored their seniors along with their parents as they stepped onto the field lined by their fellow band members.

Seniors honored for their tireless dedication to the band were:  

Eden Aflalo, Jessica Franolic, Marisa Fudenna, Erick Lim, Rose Malanga, Jason Procaccini, Emily Redunski, Gabrielle Simonelli, Josh Stark, Luke Sylvester, Dominick Vapsva, Michelle Yao

The Highlander Marching Band finished the regular season with the number one ranking in the TOB Region 10, Group 2 Open Class. They also earned number three ranking across all regions in their class. They finished in first place at the West Essex, Rutherford and Hanover Park competitions [where they won high auxiliary and percussion honors].

The band placed second at the TOB NJ State Championships at Toms River High School North in the Group 2 Open Class with a score of 93.7.  The band then placed first at the Region 10 Championships at West Essex Regional High School with a season high score of 94.75 -- winning high auxiliary and percussion honors.

Their season concluded at the TOB Atlantic Coast Championships in Hershey, PA where they earned fifth place in the Group 2 Open finals with a score of 94.10.

The Gov. Livingston Highlander Marching Band is under the direction of Nicholas O'Sullivan. The 50+ member Highlander Marching Band includes 13 Color Guard and six bag pipers. The band is led by Drum Major Aaron Wang. This year's show, "Outside the Bachs", explores the benefits of thinking and existing outside of the proverbial box through the timeless music of Johann Sebastian Bach.

About the Highlander Band: The Governor Livingston Highlander Band enjoys a long tradition of musical excellence. Continuing the centuries-old lead of the Scots Guard, the Highlander’s music and motion retain a respectful degree of old world traditions, while blending in contemporary sounds and sights. The spirit and dress of the Scottish Highlands are present when the Governor Livingston Highlander Band makes an appearance.
