CHARLOTTE, NC -The first career major championship for Alex Beach was short-lived, but the experience and memory will live on.

The 27-year-old Beach, an assistant PGA professional at Baltusrol Golf Club (site of last year’s final major) shot a 9-over-par 80 (40-40) after second round play of the PGA Championship Friday at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Highlight of the day: Beach carded his second birdie of the championship on the par-5, 546-yard seventh hole and finished the tournament with a 17-over-par (79-80--159).

Beach qualified for the PGA Championship after finishing inside the top 20 of the PGA Professional Championship, the premier event for PGA Professionals, at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon, June 18-21.
