BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - A meeting will be held on Thursday, January 30th at 7 p.m. at the Berkeley Heights Municipal Courtroom (29 Park Ave, Berkeley Heights, NJ 07922) to go over the running program and answer questions. Interested parties will fill out Coaching Application Formpdf. If we don’t get enough coaches, some age-groups may be eliminated.

NO EXPERIENCE required, just a desire to impact the joy of the sport with the children. The HEAD COACH (Certified USATF Level-2) Coach will teach and guide you with the youth training program.  Experienced Track & Field and Cross Country coaches are welcomed as well. We also welcome High School children to coach and mentor our team members. High School students will benefit by receiving a letter for their Community Service Time and a Certificate of numbers of hours served complying with college resume application. Also, you will receive a Team Coaching Shirt.

We practice with boys and girls combined in grades 2-8 separated in groups of similar fitness. That means we need a lot of coaching support to keep the kids on track. To that end, we are reaching out to the broader community in search of volunteer coaches.

Practice is held 3 times a week around 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. We are hoping for a “core group” of coaches who can COMMIT to being at practice on a regular basis.  You do not have to run with the children (Can use a bike), just a keen eye and motivating words when needed. We are also open to scheduling coaches with specific event experience (Spring Season-hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus, javelin, etc.) for individual practices and would love to have coaches we can call upon, on occasion, to substitute.

If an adult (not children) decide to volunteer, you will need to become a member of the USA Track & Field Association (USATF) and submit to a background screening (both reimbursed by the club). These are requirements the USATF governing body.
