CRANFORD - The Township of Cranford Junior Chamber of Commerce (“Jaycees”) held their 12th Annual Golf Outing on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth. The outing raised $8,000.00 which will benefit two worthy community organizations, the Cranford Baseball and Softball League Inc. and the Union County Educational Services Commission (UCESC).

For the Cranford Baseball and Softball League Inc., the proceeds will be used for field renovation projects that will enhance the safety of play for our youth. The proceeds to be offered to the UCESC will help support its Work Readiness Academy. The Work Readiness Academy provides educational and vocational skills training programs for young individuals ages 16-21 throughout Union County with developmental disabilities (i.e., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Downs Syndrome). Additionally, it holds an 80% job placement rate as a result of its partnerships with various local businesses that have been willing to provide job shadowing and internship opportunities for students with disabilities.

The outing was a huge success due to the generosity of so many. Along with perfect weather, the outing saw a record 135 golfers 40 donors. With a record number of golfers, the Golf Outing Committee received much needed support from three Work Readiness Academy students, all Cranford residents – Ryan Fay, Brian McAuliffe and Jessie Gaeta. Ryan, Brian, and Jessie assisted with the banquet room set-up, the distribution of the host course’s outing souvenir to each golfer during the round, and at the Beat the Pro Challenge.
