Cranford Police Investigating Attempted Child Luring

CRANFORD, NJ – Cranford Police are investigating an attempted child luring near Buchanan Street and Centennial Avenue on Monday afternoon.

According to Detective Lieutenant Edward Davenport of the CPD, a juvenile girl was walking home from school when an unknown male slowed down in traffic and repeatedly asked if she wanted a ride home.

The child refused and later told a family member, who contacted the CPD. She described the driver as a thin, white male in his late teens to early twenties with long black hair and shaved sides.His car was described as an older model white sedan.

The suspect did not exit the vehicle or physically contact the child.

Cranford Police Detectives are actively attempting to gather video and surveillance from local businesses and residences. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Nazzaro at 908-709-4313 or Detective Dubitsky at 908-709-7358.
