FANWOOD, NJ — Firefighters from at least three departments responded to a blaze at 244 North Martine Ave. just before midnight Tuesday, a spokesman for the borough said.

With the assistance of the Scotch Plains and Westfield Fire Departments, Fanwood firefighters knocked down the main body of the blaze within 45 minutes and declared the fire under control shortly after 1 a.m., Fanwood spokesman Tom Kranz said.

No injuries were reported, Kranz said. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, he said.

Quick work by firefighters helped save the house next door, which suffered some exterior damage, Kranz said.

The Fanwood Rescue Squad also responded, along with the Mountainside Rescue Squad and Union County EMS, he said.
