BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Food, fireworks, rides, friends and great music draw the crowds to the annual Mt. Carmel Feast.
Sunday evening the family friendly fireworks display capped off an evening of fun for those who brought the kids to the fair. This was a smaller display than will the one scheduled for Monday night that will conclude the four-day festival at Mt. Carmel Field, just off Springfield Avenue.
Monday morning, Feast Day, will bring the traditional 8 a.m. processional parade through town with the Blessed Mother statue. The parade begins across from the Little Flower Church and will wind its way through the streets of town. Join the parade at any point on the route. A short mass will be held at Little Flower Church afterward, followed by a free picnic at Peppertown Park on Plainfield Avenue.
That night, the festival will conclude with its fireworks extravaganza. Handicap parking and shuttle buses will be available nearby, but there will be no parking on the fairgrounds.
Admission on Monday will be $15 for adults and children 6 and older. Children 5 and under are free. The fair grounds open at 6 p.m. and the fireworks will begin at 11 p.m., when the fair officially concludes.
Unlimited wristbands for the rides will be $25 per night. Visitors can also buy individual ride tickets, cash only.
