First Congregational Church of Westfield Hosts ‘Journeying Across the Divide: Communicating with the Other’

FCC's Advocacy Seminar last April is being followed up by "Journeying Across the Divide," a forum on communicating with those with differing viewpoints, on Sunday, June 4, at 2 pm.

FIrst Congregational Church of Westfield will host a forum on communicating during divisive times titled “Journeying Across the Divide: Communicating with the Other” on Sunday, June 4, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 125 Elmer Street in Westfield. This event is free and open to the public. 

A follow-up to an earlier FCC seminar titled “Preserving Safety, Sanity and Soul in Turbulent Times,” this program will include brief presentations from Rev. Dr. Mark Boyea, senior minister at First Congregational Church, and Dr. Peggy Rothbaum, a local psychologist, on the need for and challenges of communicating with those we differ with politically, socially, religiously and economically. The forum will be followed by ample time for small group conversations on this highly important subject in these fractious times.

Participants are asked to register in advance and arrive by 1:45 p.m. to check in. To register or ask additional questions, please contact 0604fccadvocacy@gmail.com.

WESTFIELD, NJ — It’s creepy. It’s kooky. And it’s taking over Westfield from Oct 26 to 28. AddamsFest, a town-wide celebration honoring Westfield native Charles Addams and his most famous creations, The Addams Family, will be a destination event this fall with family-friendly activities, lectures, exhibits and film screenings, the town announced Thursday.
