On Sunday October 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM, Trinity Episcopal Church, 119 Forest Avenue, Cranford, will be having a bake sale fundraiser benefitting Foundation Cristosal, an independent, faith-based nonprofit organization that partners with the people of El Salvador in their struggle for peace, justice and reconciliation.

“At Trinity we take Jesus’ words, “whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me,” to heart, whether it’s here or across the world,” said Reverend Andy Kruger, Trinity’s Priest-in-Charge. El Salvador suffered a brutal 12-year civil war in which over 75,000 people were killed followed by a series of natural disasters which destroyed much of the country’s infrastructure and housing. In 2016, El Salvador was second only to Syria in the per capita level of internal displacement by violence. “We invite everyone to come and support this very important work,” Father Andy continued.

Foundation Cristosal was founded in 2000 by the Anglican Bishop of El Salvador and the former Dean of St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Syracuse, New York, to bring together Salvadorans and North Americans in accompaniment — a mutually empowering relationship based in dignity and respect — to work toward creating positive social change in El Salvador.  For more than 15 years, Foundation Cristosal has worked to develop partnerships between people and parish communities of the Episcopal Church in the United States and the Anglican Church of Canada. The result is a network of passionate and committed people across North America who work with Foundation Cristosal to support the people of El Salvador.  For more information about Foundation Cristosal, please visit http://cristosal.org/

Colleen Mahr Has Paid Her Dues, Earned Peoples’ Trust, and Left a Track Record of Success

February 20, 2018

Dear Editor:

As a 26-year-old Scotch Plains resident who cares more about the well-being of our town than about local politics, I am extremely disappointed that the Scotch Plains Democratic Committee leadership has decided to abandon Colleen Mahr in her run for Chair of the Union County Democratic Committee.

Mahr, who as Mayor of Fanwood for 15 years has worked closely with Scotch Plains ...
